Vail Resorts opens Perisher early for 2021 snow season

Perisher opened today for the 2021 snow season instead of its usual long weekend opening in June, with Vail Resorts announcing that the early onset of winter with sub-zero temperatures in May has allowed to welcome guests early this year.

Pete Brulisauer, Senior Vice President and COO for Vail Resorts, Perisher and Australia, said, “We are excited about the opportunity to open Perisher early for the 2021 snow season, particularly given the late start of last season.

“For skiers and boarders who couldn’t make it last year, there is tremendous excitement in returning to the snow-capped mountains this winter, with Front Valley now open for skiing and snowboarding with the Village Eight. Express.”

The opening day for Mount Hotham and Falls Creek is June 12, subject to snow and weather conditions.

Perisher will continue to operate under relevant government regulations as they evolve with respect to COVID-19 and the operations of the complex. Cleaning and security protocols will be in place to protect guests, communities and employees in accordance with public health requirements. Customers should expect to purchase products online and in advance, use QR registration codes in indoor locations, and be strongly encouraged to wear face coverings, physically distance themselves, and adopt good hygiene measures in the stations.

New for the 2021 snow season
This season, Perisher introduces two new additions for a more premium snow experience: the Leitwolf Grooming Machine and Snowmaking on the Chute Ski Trail.

Adding to its grooming fleet for 2021, Perisher’s new Leitwolf – the first of its kind in Australia – showcases the latest technology and creates a wider grooming pass leading to smoother groomed trails for our skiers and snowboarders.

This summer also saw the completion of the snowmaking installation on the Chute ski slope in Perisher Valley. The Falls is a popular trail from the Village Eight Express Chair on Front Valley to the Pretty Valley Double & Interceptor Quad Chairs.

Events are back for the long weekend
To kick off the June long weekend, guests can expect:

  • Night skiing and boarding and fireworks: on Saturday evening, Front Valley will light up for a fireworks display from 7.20pm. Night skiing and boarding will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Family fun: with Dan Druff the clown, your little ones are welcome and well taken care of. Whether they’re experienced shredders or newbies about to jump on a beginner’s mat, Perisher has got you covered.
  • Rail Rampage: Guests can join Perisher for a progression session in the ski and snowboard parks to start the season, show up to win prizes and lots of encouragement from the Perisher team.
  • Perisher Snow Sports School: will offer lessons for those taking their first steps or looking to hone their skills.
  • Free Live Entertainment: Circadian Rhythm will play at JAX Bar and Chargrill on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday night with the Smiggins Hotel with Hussy Hicks from 3:00 p.m. daily and DJ Freddie Fly Fingers on Saturday evening from 9 p.m.

Reservation for the winter season 2021

For the best value for money, skiers and runners have less than two weeks to lock in their 2021 Epic Australia Pass, which goes on sale June 15.

Epic Australia Pass 2021 holders can access the slopes from Perisher’s opening day, June 4, through the 2021/22 snow season in the Northern Hemisphere.

The Epic Australia Pass also includes Epic coverage for all pass holders, which offers refunds associated with certain resort closures, including those due to COVID-19, as well as personal events, including illness, job loss and injuries.

Vail Resorts advises, “At a price of AU $ 1,049 for adults, AU $ 599 for students (up to grade 12) and AU $ 819 for seniors (65 and over), the Epic Australia Pass is paid for in just six days, with skiing all season. and boarding at your favorite Australian resorts, Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham.
