The most popular travel destinations in the United States in August, according to Google

While the inauspicious climb of the Delta variant spoiled one in four U.S. travel plans for August, many are still set to go on the trip before summer is over.

The latest travel research data from Google shows that while hotel occupancy rates in the United States have recently declined, some destinations continue to earn a massive number of search queries from potential visitors.

Here are some of the top travel destinations this month, according to a Broady report on the latest Google search data.

In fashion now

Las Vegas

The so-called “Entertainment Capital of the World” has gone out of its way to safely bring back the shows, attractions and live concerts that draw people from across the country and around the world to Las Vegas.

With Resorts World Las Vegas opening in June as the first resort built on the famous Strip in over a decade, there are plenty of new experiences on offer, ranging from a massive pool complex to over 40 new hotel deals. catering, retail, nightlife venues, spa and casino.

In addition, a 5,000-seat theater that will host musical artists such as Carrie Underwood, Céline Dion, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. Other top performers like Bruno Mars, Gwen Stefani and Barry Manilow have also signed up to return to the Las Vegas stages.

New York City

Despite the imposition of vaccination restrictions on many indoor activities, New York City is starting to bring back tourist draws, including the restart of Broadway shows after an extended shutdown. The 28th Charlie Parker Jazz Festival returns to Harlem August 27-29, nightlife venues like the Jay-Z ’40/40 Club have reopened, and out of town, Legoland New York Resort recently opened for the greatest pleasure of children and their families. Hotel data and analytics firm STR says hotel rates are currently lower than usual. So far in August, the average daily rate for a New York hotel has been just over $ 200, about $ 40 lower than in 2019.

Los Angeles

Epicenter of the national film industry and home to beaches, theme parks, museums, zoos, parks and other world-famous attractions, Los Angeles is sure to remain a favorite destination for travelers. Now that statewide travel restrictions and mask warrants have been lifted and more than half of residents are fully vaccinated, the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board has launched a massive campaign to attract again visitors. Popular theme park complexes like the nearby Universal Studios Hollywood Resort and Disneyland Resort, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Six Flags Magic Mountain also consistently attract large numbers of tourists.

San Diego

South of LA, San Diego is known not only as a surfer’s paradise, with year-round warm weather and gorgeous beaches, but also for its historic neighborhoods, saltwater lagoons, and waterfront wildlife. Its wealth of outdoor activities, from surfing, sailing, fishing, scuba diving, paddleboarding to beautiful hiking, biking, parasailing, golf, horseback riding and much more, adds to its appeal. Among its main tourist attractions are well-known theme parks and zoos, including Sea World San Diego, Legoland California Resort and the famous San Diego Zoos and San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

Chicago

Chicago is another popular metropolis. In August, the city offers plenty of entertainment, including sporting events, festivals, parks, restaurants, museums and more. Outdoor venues like the sandy shores of Lake Michigan provide opportunities for biking, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, boating, jet-skiing and more. Popular places for a summer stroll include the Navy Pier, where you will find events, free public programs, attractions, culture, restaurants and shopping.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach has 60 miles of beautiful Atlantic coastline, with plenty of opportunities for water sports, fishing, golf, shopping, dining and enjoying local theme parks, water parks, casino cruises, the nightlife and concert halls. There is also a 1.2 mile beachfront promenade which is home to festivals and events, filled with retail stores, restaurants that evoke a fun and carnival atmosphere. Plus, visitors to the area will enjoy generous portions of Southern hospitality and fresh ocean cuisine.

Orlando florida

Orlando is still on the tourist favorites list, in large part because it is home to the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, and Legoland Orlando. This summer, Florida removed capacity restrictions and mask requirements, and will not allow companies to require proof of COVID-19 vaccination from customers. With endless sunshine, warm weather, and sprawling beaches, this aspect attracted more visitors to Florida during the second quarter of 2021 than during the same period in 2019.
