STRIPLING, Beverly Ann

Beverly Ann Stripling, March 18, 1966 – November 26, 2021. At age 55, she died while hospitalized in Tucson, Arizona under the loving watch of her family and friends, “Bev’s Warriors”. She had battled metastatic cancer for ten years. The cancer made her suffer a lot but she endured it well and without complaining.

Bev claimed two homes – Georgia and Arizona. In Atlanta, she was raised and baptized at Briarcliff Baptist Church. She grew up in the Briarcliff – Oak Grove – Lakeside community. Graduated from Clemson University. In Tucson, her home church was Christ Community Church where she volunteered with the PA system.

She was employed for more than 10 years by HF Coors Dinnerware, as Web Manager, IT and Designer. She was especially proud that her products were made entirely in the United States. and portray a carefully researched authentic history and culture.

When Bev wasn’t working, she was always “playing”. She could practice any outdoor sport but preferred to explore nature. That meant hiking, rock climbing, and mountaineering (reaching the summit of Ranier and Orizaba), kayaking, swimming in the Yellowstone River (yes), and camping. An avid photographer, her favorite places were the national parks, especially the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, to which she returned many times. His humor and childlike playfulness were contagious. On a hot day in the Tucson Valley, she was driving with a friend to the top of Mount Lemon to build a snowman. She coordinated day trips, weekend explorations and family vacations. His favorite words were “Let’s go!” Her friends were eager to go with her, and she was also ready to share their plans. Filming in Iceland was an adventure with cousin Kim.

Bev taught us the value of focused quality time, with each person and with the details of nature. She approached each day with a positive attitude and could not be provoked into speaking ill of others. His personality was exuberant. Humility was his coat and faith his fuel. She believed in the power of positivity and faith in God, and handled relationships with discretion, kind words, and enthusiastic generosity. Her favorite reading material was the Bible, which she called a manual for life, and the writings of John Muir.

Bev was a trusted and influential confidante. She reportedly responded to struggling friends with advice that made a measurable difference in their lives and relationships. His most quoted advice was: Don’t worry about anything. Pray for everything. Bev is survived by her brother Trey/Theron Crawford Stripling, III and cousin Kim Gossage, both very close to her, and her friend “Bestie” Diana Bock, who is like a sister. She also leaves to mourn: her parents Mary and Ted/Mary Griffin Davis Stripling and Theron Crawford Stripling, Jr.; his “Auntie Em”/Emily Collette (Rick/Richard Maher) and his cousin Dylan Maher. Other friends, in Tucson and Atlanta, too numerous to name here, were in his praying spirit, whether near or far.

A celebration of life was held in Tucson against the backdrop of a beautiful desert sunset. Another service will be held for friends in Georgia at a later date. The family wishes these donations to be considered in his memory: Christ Community Church, 530 S. Panatano Road, Tucson, AZ 85710; and Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ 85712; tucsonbotanical.org/donate/tribute-or-memorial.
