Richard “Dick, Pappy” W. Rozman, 88, of Windsor, husband of Christine (Brodeur) Rozman, passed away on Tuesday June 29, 2021. Born in Windsor, 11th of 12 children of the late William and Stefania (Mielniki) Rozman. As a child he was an active free spirit who excelled in sports, which was his joy. He grew up in Windsor until his final year of high school when he moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where he graduated from Leon High School, then started at Florida State University where he played football and belonged to Alpha Tau Omega. He was drafted into the United States Army while in college and served in the Korean War. After his release, he returned to the state of Florida where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. Dick returned to Windsor after college where he met his 54 year old wife Christine and they lived here until her death. Sports were his passion and in high school and college he played baseball and football. After school he enjoyed golf, running and skiing. He was a keen gardener and took great pride in his yard and flower gardens which he meticulously maintained. He wanted to be remembered as a gardener. One of his greatest pleasures was skiing with his family and friends in Berkshire East until he was 86. First and foremost, he was a family man and spending time with his grandchildren was very important to him. He founded the RW Maintenance Company in 1961, which he led until his retirement. He was a member of the Windsor Garden Club and past president of the Newington Ski Club. Beside his wife Christine, he leaves his daughter Marla Rycerz and her husband Andrew of Windsor; her beloved grandchildren Jaclyn and Jason Rycerz; a brother Walter Rozman of Vernon; one sister Helen Chevierier of Windsor; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers Robert, George, Carl, Henry and Earl Rozman and four sisters, Marian Chorazy, Wendy Smiley, Lucille Hood and Elizabeth Jansen. His family will receive family and friends on Saturday, July 3, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor followed by a Christian burial mass at 11 a.m. at Saint-Damien de Église.
