“Stoke the Fire,” a new ski film from Teton Gravity Research, will debut in Aspen next week at the Wheeler Opera House.

The film stars 17 different skiers from Canada and the United States, including Aspen native Colter Hinchliffe, who plans to attend next week’s screening in person.

“It explores the meaning of what it is to be excited,” Katie Davis, the film’s touring manager, said on Friday. “Stoked means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. ”

From Europe to Australia and the United States, the ski feature film has found its way onto screens around the world and will screen in Aspen on Friday at the Wheeler Opera House.

Tickets for “Reaching the Fire” cost $ 15 for adults and $ 10 for people 16 and under. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and show time is 7:30 p.m. at the Wheeler Opera House.

“This year was obviously very different,” said Davis. “They got around that by putting together small teams for different segments. “

According to Davis, “Stoke the Fire” primarily features ski touring in places like British Columbia as well as Cooke City, MT; Seward, Alaska; and Jackson Hole.

According to the film’s marketing materials, “Stoke the Fire” explores the evolution of athletes in skiing and the joy that comes from that process.

“For some, (excited) is about engaging in a new world, a way of life and the friendships that come with that commitment. The choice to enter this world is a spark, and with each new experience, the fire grows, ”say marketing materials.

“With more knowledge comes more exploration, both physically and geographically, which helps to understand what these raw nature-related experiences do for the soul. With more experience, an examination of our shared history becomes important, and ultimately some of us might want to test our limits on the upper echelon of what is possible based on the sum of our knowledge and experience. While the answers we find are different for everyone, the pursuit of this development is something sacred, the pursuit is what stokes the fire, ”add the marketing materials.

At the screening of Aspen, there are awards shows from Sierra Nevada, YETI, The North Face, Atomic, onX, Volkl and more. All participants will also have a chance to win major film tour prizes, including a trip to Jackson Hole.
