Richard B. “Dick” Styer

Sellersville – Richard B. “Dick” Styer, 94, of Sellersville, Pa., Died Monday, July 26, 2021 at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville. Dick passed away peacefully in bed from heart failure after a brief heart attack.

Born March 29, 1927 in Souderton, Pennsylvania, to parents Milton and Sadie (Booz) Styer, he was the youngest of two children. Dick graduated from Souderton High School, Class of 1945. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in the closing days of World War II.

After serving in the armed forces for a brief period, Dick enrolled in evening school at the Lansdale School of Business, graduating as an accountant in 1948 while simultaneously working for BR Scholl Trucking Co.

He married Nancy (Bossert) Styer, a homemaker from North Wales, Pennsylvania, in May 1949. He was a devoted husband for 71 years who supported a family of six boys. Dick eventually founded his own accounting firm, Richard B. Styer & Associates, in 1968.

Dick was an active member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sellersville, Pa., Where he served as a usher and a member of the church board.

He was a member of the Nase-Kraft American Legion Post No. 255, Sellersville, PA, and the Indian Valley Kiwanis Club, Souderton. His hobbies included skiing, golfing, reading, traveling extensively through retired Europe and Australia, and spending time in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The survivors are two sons, Robert Styer and his wife Carol, of Perkasie, PA, and James Styer, of Grand Forks, North Dakota; six grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Alex (spouse Stephanie), Whitney, Alicia (spouse John) Pernini and Kimberly; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Caroline and Finley. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy; four sons, Joseph, Mark, Thomas and David; a grandson, Philippe; and a sister, Mildred.

Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral services which will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 7, 2021, at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where friends can call Friday night from the 6 : 00 to 8:00 p.m. or Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in private at the convenience of the family at Tohickon Union Cemetery, Weisel, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960.
