Jesperson, Carl Arthur

MADISON – Carl Arthur Jesperson, 80, of Madison, Wisconsin, died on September 19, 2021 at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born October 1, 1940 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the son of Paul Jesperson and Dina (Westra) Jesperson.

Carl served in the US Naval Reserves, earning a National Defense Service Medal in March 1966, after which he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a Masters in Computer Science in 1969. He was an active person. who enjoyed many sports and being outdoor hunting, fishing, canoeing, biking and skiing with family and friends. He worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for 40 years, but preferred his weekend job as a volunteer national ski patroller at Cascade Ski Mountain. Carl was also an avid ballroom dance enthusiast later in life, along with his 20-year-old partner, Florann Ament. They were known to spin a nasty foxtrot and Argentine tango on the dance floor. Carl was always there to lend a hand to a friend or neighbor.

Carl is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Walter) Jesperson and Nicole (Tyler) Zunker; four grandchildren; and one brother, James Jesperson. His parents died before him; his brother, William Jesperson; and a son.

A private memorial service will be held at Cress Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be addressed to Agrace HospiceCare or the Wisconsin Institute for Learning Disabilities / Dyslexia (WILDD).
