The Ikon Pass expands further in Europe with the addition of Dolomiti Superski in Italy and Kitzbühel in Austria for winter 21/22. Time is running out to buy the pass which gives access to 47 ski areas across 9 countries and 5 continents. NEW

The multi-station pass is on sale for a few weeks only and was withdrawn from sale in early December in previous seasons.

If you are planning to travel to North America and want to be able to ski at some resorts in Europe as well, now is the time to act.

For next winter Dolomites Superski in Italy and Kitzbuhel in Tyrol in Austria join Zermatt in Switzerland on the Ikon Pass.

The Ikon pass offers up to 21 days in the Alps for the 2021/22 season.

Ikon Pass holders will have a combined seven-day access to the 12 Dolomiti Superski Mountains and
seven-day access to Kitzbühel (including Kirchberg and Mittersill) on the Ikon Pass.

There are no blackout dates and five-day access on the Ikon Base Pass, also without blackout dates.

There is no access on the Ikon Session Pass.

The Ikon Pass unlocks the adventure with access to 47 iconic winter destinations across the Americas,
Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

ALTERRA MOUNTAIN COMPANY ANNOUNCES $ 207 MILLION IN TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGES IN FOUR CHAPEL DESTINATIONS

The development of the village, the base-to-base gondola and technological advancement appear to be priorities
Alterra Mountain Company is investing $ 207 million in capital improvement for the coming year.

There is a processing base and mountain developments at the US resorts of Steamboat, Deer Valley Resort, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, and Mammoth Mountain.

This year’s $ 207 million plan includes $ 111 million in major resort projects, $ 31 million in enterprise technology systems, $ 65 million in resort maintenance and planning.

This year’s capital investments will focus on four major destination developments and a commitment to infrastructure and technological advancement.

Deer Valley Resort, Utah: Snow Park

The Snow Park Lodge and Base Zone will undergo a complete overhaul to create a top notch Base Zone
experience for guests arriving in Deer Valley.

  • Additional accommodation and services for skiers,
  • New contemporary food and drink and afternoon options,
  • An additional ski beach and an improved mountain transport network.

Snow Park will feature mountain-inspired architecture and design, allowing nature
setting to cross the new plaza, offering an array of activities and mountain views.

A new extended ski beach will provide a place for more guests to watch the skiers and take in the sunset while enjoying a quintessential Deer Valley afternoon scene.

A new integrated transport and mobility hub with multiple access points from a new parking lot
The facilities will significantly improve the current arrival of customers and the experience of accessing the mountain.

Awaiting local government review and approval. Snow Park is expected to lead the way in 2022.

Palisades Tahoe, CA: Base to Base Gondola

Construction of the highly anticipated, state-of-the-art Base-to-Base (B2B) gondola began last summer.

It will take skiers and riders between bases at Palisades and Alpine Meadows in about 16 minutes, this is currently a seven mile ride.

The B2B will be one of the largest new elevators in North America with cabins for 8 passengers and the capacity to move 1,400 people per hour between base areas of stations.

The B2B will provide access to 6,000 acres of skiing and riding for all skill levels in a single smooth run, with iconic 360-degree views.

The $ 60 million B2B project includes two main terminals, two intermediate stations and an additional base area
targeted improvements to improve the customer experience.

Mammoth Mountain, California: Redevelopment of the main lodge

The multi-year plan for the redevelopment of the main lodge will create the “Eastern Sierra Base Camp”.

It aims to provide the world’s best ski beach, state-of-the-art services, an adventure concierge center, an array of restaurants and retail, luxury accommodations and a variety of residential property options.

There are also the club’s equipment and programming.

This ambitious plan is in the authorization phase and should begin construction in spring 2023.

Steamboat, Colorado: Redesign of the gondola plaza and expansion of the Pioneer Ridge land

Steamboat will undertake a three-year, $ 135 million base area redevelopment and mountain terrain expansion.

It aims to reinvent a first-rate customer experience to match the destination’s long-recognized industrial excellence.

The square of the Steamboat gondola will be transformed into a versatile square with a wealth of equipment.

It will create an easy-to-navigate destination core, with additional dining and afternoon spots, retail, entertainment and welcoming gathering places that customers can enjoy all year round.

A reinvented guest arrival experience will eliminate cumbersome stairs and provide direct and easy access to the mountain.

Guests will now be able to fully enjoy the fun and family atmosphere and be fully immersed in
Western hospitality of the steamboat.

Phase I of the redeveloped plaza is expected to begin after the 20/21 winter season destination closes.

This phase will bring immediate improvements to guest arrival and traffic and will pave the way for guest improvement equipment that is expected to be completed by the start of the 22/23 winter season.

Mountain improvements planned for the 21/22 season (pending further approvals) include 650 new acres of advanced / expert ski terrain at Pioneer Ridge.

The new area will also include a world-class education area and the first stage of the new Big Blue Gondola, providing gondola access to the newly redeveloped Bashor education area.

The Steamboat trail map will expand by almost 20% for a total of 3,620 acres, making Steamboat the second largest ski area in Colorado.

Enterprise technology systems

Alterra Mountain Company will invest $ 31 million to strengthen the delivery of personalized experiences,
