El Paso children and their families will have a new playground at the foot of the Franklin Mountains on the West Side starting Saturday, October 30, according to a press release from the city.
The City of El Paso and the Coronado Neighborhood Association will host a groundbreaking ceremony Saturday at 10 a.m. for the new Thunderbird Playground near the Jan Sumrall Trailhead, 1105 Thunderbird Drive.

District 1 city representative Peter Svarzbein will attend.
The playground, surrounded by a small rock face, has equipment for all ages and abilities.
The park will have a slide, swings, climbing structures, a wood chip surface and a shade canopy. The new playground project also includes walking trails, benches, garbage cans, trees and shrubs.
