NEWTON FALLS – James Robert Kazimer, 72, passed away peacefully in eternal rest on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Washington Square Nursing Home in Warren.

He was born July 2, 1949 in Warren, the son of the late William James Kazimer and Arvadia Ruth Elliott Kazimer. Jim has lived in Newton Falls for most of his life.

He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1973 on the USS Cascade.

He married Deborah Lee Anthony on June 8, 1985 and they lived together for 25 years until his death on December 18, 2010.

He worked as a draftsman at Republic Steel and Drake Manufacturing for over 20 years, and most recently worked at the Atomic Box in Aurora. Jim was an Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster for Troop #69 in Newton Falls and was a Scout for most of his life. He also served as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop No. 8 in Braceville. Jim and his wife have owned and operated Kazimer’s Christmas Tree Farm for many years. He was a member of Newton Falls American Legion Post No. 236.

Jim enjoyed hiking, photography, western travel, canoeing, motorcycling and cross-country skiing, was an avid outdoorsman and loved his animals.

His parents predeceased him; his wife, Debbie; and a sister, Janet Kazimer.

He is survived by one daughter, Keri (Dave) Savick II of Braceville; one son, Elliott Kazimer of Mentor; one sister, Jane (Bruce) Simpson of Mukilteo, Washington; and a brother, Mark (Judy) Kazimer of Newton Falls.

At Jim’s request, cremation took place. A memorial ceremony will take place at a later date.

The family has requested that all donations be made to the Children’s Wing of the Newton Falls Public Library, 204 S. Canal St. Newton Falls, OH 44444, in memory of Jim and Debbie Kazimer.
