Apple introduced the iPhone 13 just two days ago, but it’s already started to gain traction in China, one of the company’s biggest markets.

Apple sees great interest in its iPhone 13 in China

A report from South China Morning Post earlier today, Apple has received more than 2 million iPhone 13 orders in China. Orders are placed through the official Apple store through the JD.com e-commerce platform

Apple launched the iPhone 13 at an event earlier this week, sparking the interest of millions of people around the world. China’s 2 million pre-orders for the iPhone 13 surpassed the 1.5 million the company received when it launched its iPhone 12.

The tech giant continues to be the top seller of premium smartphones in China following Huawei’s recent struggles. Huawei has come under pressure in the United States in recent years, which has affected its manufacturing power.

Ethan Qi, senior analyst at Counterpoint Research, pointed out that right now the iPhone 13 is the smartphone that has no equivalent in the market. The phone, which will start selling for 5,000 yuan (US $ 776), is currently the world’s first smartphone.

Earlier this year, Huawei launched its Android P50 and P50 Pro smartphones. However, the phones haven’t gotten much attention because they don’t have 5G. This is due to the company’s inability to access advanced American technologies due to certain restrictions.

AAPL down 0.6%

Apple shares are down less than 1% today despite positive news from China. AAPL is trading at $ 148 per share, down 0.6% during Thursday’s trading session. Apple stock has underperformed this year, losing nearly 8% of its value since the start of the year.

China remains one of the most important markets for Apple. The strong interest in the iPhone 13 could prove to be decisive for Apple’s performance in the fourth quarter of the year. AAPL could recover in the holiday quarter of the year if the company sees strong sales for its iPhone 13.
