“Shunpiking” means to travel by any route except the easiest, fastest or shortest. And that’s exactly what Aaron Rolph set out to do. Watch this exclusive premiere of “The Great Escape”.
In this film, the British adventurer Aaron Rolph “reinvents” a popular crossing through Great Britain known as Land’s End at John o ‘Groats.
Most of us don’t know the route, which is usually 1,400 km long. But Rolph decided to take something other than this “short” route – he would cycle all over the British Isles, covering 2,700 km.
Along the way, Rolph goes kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding, mountain biking, camping, running, climbing and skiing – the list goes on.
Specifically, the Rolph downhill bikes at BikePark Wales, camp from a wire suspension bridge and ski in the ravines of the mountains of the Nevis range. Throughout his cycling road trip, there are laughs, gasps and, unfortunately, a few injuries.
Read on to find out what gear transported Rolph on his epic adventure across the country.
