Baptista, Ernstberger and Heffernan finish classified in the ITA mountain region

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State women’s tennis team has placed three Broncos, Joana baptista, Pauline Ernstberger and Shauna Heffernan, in the final ranking of the ITA Mountain Region. These standings capped a successful season for the Broncos who finished the year 12-6 overall and 6-4 at Mountain West.

“It’s exciting to think about the future of the program and how these players continue to lay a solid foundation for the future,” said the associate head coach. Maria lopez. “We take great pride in the team’s efforts to embrace and trust the culture and what we, their coaches, are creating for them before they come onto campus and their time as a Bronco. show strong regionally, but I know they are hungry and eager to continue to climb the ranks and achieve our goals. “

Baptista led two ranked Broncos in the final singles poll, placing 10th overall, followed by Ernstberger in 18th. The duo were also named All-Mountain West in singles earlier this spring. They are two of nine MW players found in the poll, Baptista being the second highest ranked behind Izumi Asano of UNLV in eighth place.

Baptista finished another strong campaign in blue and orange with an overall singles record of 11-5. The second year split the time between the top two positions with a 9-5 record on court one, while it went 2-0 at No.2.

Meanwhile, Ernstberger capped an outstanding first season with an 11-2 overall record, the team’s best in singles and a 5-1 record in the league. The true freshman finished the year with a 7-1 record for second in singles, 2-1 on court three and 2-0 in fourth place.

In doubles, Boise State’s top pair Baptista and Heffernan finished the year fifth in the ITA mountain region. The tandem finished the campaign with an overall record of 11-5 – all on court one – and 5-3 in MW play.

The three Broncos are expected in the fall as Boise State looks to improve on their 12-6 mark last spring.
